Kahlua


3 c sugar
1 c hot water
5 tb instant coffee
1 tb vanilla
13 oz vodka 


Dissolve sugar in water; set to cool. 
Dissolve coffee in ¼ c boiling water. 
Add vanilla. 
Add coffee mixture to syrup mixture. 
Pour in vodka. 
Shake to mix. 
Makes 29 oz.

I find this sweeter than necessary -- after all, it's usually going to be poured over ice and have milk added to it to make a delicious cocktail -- and often cut down the sugar portion by a third.
